Let There Be Light!

Genesis 1: 1-3, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light."
My Pastor says that the Book of Genesis is one of the most important books in the Bible, it's like the brain box of the Bible.  I'm paraphrasing.
Our theme verses above is the very beginning of God's Word in the Bible.  Here we see the situation of the earth in the beginning, it was without form, void and dark. It must have looked hopeless in the physical, amazingly, the first Word that God spoke was 'Let there be light.'   The ordinary man would have started describing how hopeless the situation was and how tired they are of the chaos in the world. However, the first word that came out from God's mouth was 'Let there be Light! When you come across negative situation, what do you do? What do you say? Do you speak light into it?

The important lesson we should take from this passage is that as God's children, we've been created in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:26).  This means that God made us to look, reason and function like Him.  God wants us to bring light into any darkness that may come our way, it could be sickness, lack, relationship, academics, job etc.  Instead of talking about the problem, we should speak God's Word over that problem.  God said, 'let there be light' over the chaos and darkness in the earth. God gave us that power and ability to speak Light over our situations as well.  The power is in our mouth. For example, if you feel sick or weak, you can say, 'Let there be light in this body in the name of Jesus, because by His stripes I am healed.'

Describing the situation, giving details of how bad it is will not help but rather it will enhance the ugly situation.   Martin Luther King Jr said, 'Darkness cannot fight darkness, only light can do that.'
In this 2014, we are not going to fight darkness with darkness! We will take charge, we will turn on the light! The Word of God is the Light.  According to Psalm 119:130  "The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple."  Child of God, no situation is hopeless, it is subject to change, all you need is faith and patience. Continue speaking God's Word and look forward to your miracle for God's Word will never fail you.

It's 2014, Let's Raise The Bar!

It's a New Year...actually the month of January is almost gone but it's still a new year until we hit February 2014.  This is our Year of Greatness, our Year of Greater Glory!

My sincere apology to anyone following this blog that looked forward to my updates. I don't have much excuse apart from the fact that my Laptop, and my Tablet wouldn't work, I got a bit apprehensive buying another one. Please forgive me, I will try and do better.

I learned a lot from the Word of God in 2013 and I am excited about what God is going to do in 2014.  There are some things the Spirit of God laid upon my heart to focus on this year for my spiritual growth and maturity...you know, sort of raising the bar for myself.  Fellowshipping with God through prayer and His Word helps us to hear clearly when God speaks, understand His ways and make necessary adjustments as the Spirit leads.

Below are some of the things God impressed upon my heart for 2014:
1)  Spending more time with God, especially with His Word and also in worship.
2)  Speak the Word of God consistently over my life and over any situation.
3)  Give more.
4)  Don't to judge others, accept them, love them just like Jesus loves them.
5)  See good in people, things, places, situations, everything and speak positively no matter what.

Most importantly, this year I am focusing on the GRACE  OF GOD.  This is one of the reasons I will be spending more time with the Word of God because ...1 Peter 2: 2-3 says, "Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue."  The more I know about Jesus, the more I am exposed to the grace of God and that is what my heart yearns for right now.  This is important if you want to reign in life, if you want to be a winner and put satan to shame.  Romans 5:17, "...those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ."

Let us let go and let God take us higher this year, let us raise the bar and more in fellowship with Jesus, He is all that we need.  God bless you and happy 2014!
